What this image translator can do
A screenshot contains pixels, so it cannot be pasted into a text decoder as if it were a sequence of characters. This page opens your picture locally and provides a chart for manual matching. It does not run automatic OCR or upload the image to a recognition service. Choose a supported file, compare its symbols with the chart, and click matching cells in reading order. The decoded-message box collects the original characters so you can review and copy your transcription.
Prepare a picture that is easier to read
Use a clear crop of the symbol message, keeping spaces and line breaks visible. A small or blurry image can hide differences between pointing hands, checkboxes, or arrows. Zoom the source picture on your device if necessary; this tool does not restore details missing from the file. PNG, JPEG, WebP, and GIF files up to 10 MB are accepted. File previews stay in your browser. Avoid sharing sensitive screenshots simply to solve an ordinary symbol puzzle.
Match the font and letter case
Select Wingdings 1, 2, or 3 before transcribing. Choose the original Wingdings for a Gaster-style fan message unless the source indicates another version. Uppercase and lowercase have distinct assignments, so a symbol resembling a familiar picture may still correspond to an unexpected letter. If the chart cannot represent a glyph, check the full printable-character chart. Do not invent a replacement just to make the recovered sentence read smoothly; mark uncertain characters and revisit them.
Review the result before copying it
Add spaces with the space button and remove your last choice with Undo character. You can also edit the decoded-message box directly to insert a line break or correct a transcription. Check repeated symbols for consistent letters, then compare the recovered text against the picture one final time. If the source can supply copyable symbols instead, the text decoder avoids manual transcription. A successful substitution recovers characters, but cannot verify the author, context, or authenticity of a message.
Frequently asked questions
Will uploading a screenshot decode it automatically?
No. Selecting a picture opens a local reference preview. You choose the matching symbols yourself and review the resulting text.
What if the image contains arrows only?
Try Wingdings 3, then compare the exact arrow shapes. Direction alone is insufficient because several glyphs can point the same way.
Why can I not find a symbol?
It may belong to another font, an additional legacy position, or a stylized image. Check the source before assuming it is Wingdings.
